This is a video of a walk my son and I took recently at a State Park near our home, where we saw literally thousands upon thousands of Canadian Geese come off the lake at dusk and fly…. somewhere.

What does this have to do with GRN? Well, for me it pointed to the whole reason I decided to go into business for myself  - to be able to spend time with my family.  It was a beautiful evening, a special memory for me, and reminded me of what’s important - to cherish the time with those you love.

I had a good week with GRN this week on many levels, but am once again very impressed with the level of support that exists for members, and wanted to share.  For example, I had an Adwords question that I was stuck on.  I made an appointment with the person 3 levels up from me because I knew he’d know the answer right off - and sure enough, he unstuck me.

What other kind of training exists?  Well, there’s lots of GRN-specific training available… phone calls, webinars, training sites.  There’s one training site available in particular I’d like to share that takes you from A to Z on web marketing, starting with the very basics of ‘what is attraction marketing’ all the way to super-detailed, step-by-step instructions on everything from how (and why) to build a blog to how to leverage MySpace.   It’s great stuff, and you can try it for a week for $1.   It’s not GRN specific, but it doesn’t matter - this is one of those resources that’s so applicable, it’s been snapped up by everyone on my team.
 
There are so many ways to build a business, and this site not only teaches YOU about attraction marketing and Web 2.0, but takes the pressure off of you to teach others, which is a big help when you’re just getting started and still learning this stuff yourself.  This resource is not required when you start your business, but it’s so comprehensive, it should be.

Actually, statistics show that when the economy slows down, home-based business heats up.  More people feel like they need to find an alternative or a supplement to their main income, and they’re actively looking for an opportunity.  Now is a GREAT time to position yourself in front of this market.

A slow economy doesn’t mean that nobody can afford to get started, either.  There are people who are successful even in the worst economic time - just as there are people who flounder even in a good economy.  The trick is bringing a lot of prospects to your opportunity, and then sifting and sorting through your prospects to find the ones who are best suited to join you.

Getting high numbers of prospects to look at your opportunity takes work, but it’s definately doable.  If you’re online, there are a myriad of free and paid methodologies to bring highly targeted traffic to you.  Two of the powerful techniques I use are personal branding, and taking advantage of Web 2.0 marketing.  More on this in a separate post.

No, I’m not talking about pumpkin patches and corn mazes, although those are wonderful things this beautiful time of year.  The fall is traditionally a time when home-based businesses boom - summer’s over, kids are back in school, and everyone is ready to focus on new projects.  The fall is traditionally a time of great growth in home based business.  If you’re waiting to get started, don’t!
